Exciting Week in Baylor Athletics

What a great day to be a Baylor Bear, as we experience another exciting week in Baylor Athletics!  There will be a celebration on Friday night, welcoming the Baylor Men’s Basketball National Champions back to the Ferrell Center for the first home game of the season. The team plans to host a ring ceremony and unveil the National Championship banner. You’ll need to be in your seat promptly at 6:30pm to participate in the celebration. Following the event, the Bears will play Incarnate Word with tipoff at 7:30pm.

Congratulations to Baylor Women’s Basketball and Head Coach Nicki Collen for fending off a late 4th quarter push to claim victory over the Texas State Bobcats 77-70 Tuesday evening!  The Bobcats are picked to finish 4th in the Sunbelt Conference this season, but someone forgot to share that news to their players as they made an impressive showing in their first road game. Nonetheless, the Bears rose to the occasion in the closing minutes to win the game.  After traveling north to take on UT Arlington this Thursday evening, the Bears will reload and return home to play New Orleans on Monday, November 15th at the Ferrell Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.

In case you missed the #12 Baylor vs. #1 Texas volleyball series last weekend, the Bears overcame a sweep by Texas on Friday evening to roar back and defeat the Longhorns in the second day of a heated two-day series. Coach Ryan McGuyre and his team will close out their regular season home competition against the Iowa State Cyclones on November 20th in Waco at the Ferrell Center.

Finally, it may have been a tough week for Baylor Football fans as many of us struggled with last week’s disappointing loss to a 3-5, unranked TCU football team. When I think back over my career as an athlete, all I ever wanted was a chance… just a chance. I would handle the rest. On Saturday, the Bears have an amazing chance to redeem themselves by unseating the Big 12’s top opponent, #4-ranked Sooners of Oklahoma. That, alone, should lift our spirits and energize our hope.

The next few days will be exciting in Baylor Athletics. Come get ya some!

Sic ‘em!
