2020 Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame/Wall of Honor Ceremony Rescheduled

The 2020 Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame/Wall of Honor Induction Ceremony and Banquet has been postponed until the fall of 2021.  The specific date of the event will be announced at a later time.

Safety precautions brought on by the Covid-19 virus has prompted health care officials to advise against hosting events with large gatherings at least through the end of this year.  Some officials are suggesting that, without an approved vaccine, unsafe conditions may even extend well into the spring of 2021.

“Rather than put at risk the health and well-being of our honorees and their guests by attempting to host the event this year, we have decided to postpone the 2020 induction banquet until next fall. At that time, we will induct the 2020 class, along with an abbreviated class selected in 2021,” said “B” Association Executive Director Walter Abercrombie. “We believe this strategy is the best solution for everyone under the unfortunate circumstances we are all currently facing. We look forward, with great anticipation, to returning to host next year’s exciting Hall of Fame event.”

The Hall of Fame inductees for 2020 include:  Jason Smith (football), Lenka Broosova (women’s tennis), Lars Poerschke (men’s tennis), Brette Reagan (softball), Todd Cooper (track and field), Anna Breyfogle (volleyball), Brad Goebel (football), and Andrew Melontree (football).

Also recognized will be Dr. Michael Attas, a former football player and retired chief of cardiology at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center who founded the Medical Humanities program at Baylor, as the latest addition to the “B” Association Wall of Honor.
