Transformed Hunters Now the Hunted

What a great day to be a Baylor Bear!  I hope you are planning to participate in the upcoming 2019 Baylor Football Growl-O-Ween (Baylor vs. West Virginia) on Thursday evening, October 31, at 7:00pm in McLane Stadium. If there was ever an important game to attend, this is it. After Kansas State’s upset victory over Oklahoma and TCU’s win over Texas last weekend, the Bears suddenly found themselves in the Big 12 Conference’s top spot and ranked #12 nationally. In old football terms, the “hunters” (Baylor Bears) are now the “hunted.” What an exciting opportunity for the team and the entire Baylor family!

In addition to taking in a great football game, there are several other exciting activities planned for the evening including trick or treating and inflatables in Touchdown Alley, games and giveaways in the South Plaza, and 100-level concourse Halloween photo opportunities. Also, following the game, a fireworks show will be on display from the rooftop of McLane Stadium. It should be an electrifying evening of fun family entertainment. Hope to see you there.

Our hearts continue to mourn the recent loss of three beloved members of the Baylor Letterwinner family.

  • Edwin Carrell, (Baseball, ’59), Past-President of the “B” Association
  • Dr. Tommy Davidson (Football, ’75-77), Team Chiropractor for Baylor Athletics
  • Mark Hurd (M. Tennis, ’77-78), Regent, Baylor benefactor and Oracle CEO

Throughout campus, Mark Hurd’s enormous impact at Baylor can be seen through the buildings and facilities that bear his name, and Tommy Davidson’s talents and capacity to care for others will be missed by all who knew him and worked with him. Ed Carrell’s love and generosity distinguished him from all others. These men, although different in many ways, represent the very best of Baylor University and our letterwinners association. Please join the staff at the “B” Association in remembering the families of these men in your prayers.

Sic ’em!

Walter Abercrombie
Associate AD/Executive Director, Baylor “B” Association
