The “B” Association and Baylor Athletics will recognize former defensive back, Michael McFarland, as a 2017 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Liberty game on Saturday, September 2.
A native of Jasper, Texas, and a former two-year team captain, McFarland earned four varsity letters in football for the Bears from 1989 to 1992. He earned All-Southwest Conference honors as a strong safety in 1991, and he currently ranks among the top 10 in Career Interceptions at Baylor. He is also a member of Baylor Football’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s.
After leaving Baylor, McFarland went on to earn his Masters Degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin University and his Doctorate Degree from Baylor. He and his wife Cynthia, two daughters, Kharis and Michiah, and two sons Tyler and Jarrett, reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, where he currently serves as the Superintendent of the Lancaster Independent School District. In 2015, Dr. Michael McFarland was voted by the Texas Association of School Administrators as the Superintendent of the Year for the state of Texas.

Michael McFarland was voted by the Texas Association of School Administrators as the Superintendent of the Year for the state of Texas. Area
