Ronnie “Bo” Lee- Football 1975-78
Ronnie “Bo” Lee passed away on March 26, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 1, in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Tyler Texas.
Lee, 66, was born on December 24, 1956 to the late Ernest and Dell Lee in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Lee was a three-sport star at John Tyler High School and was a member of the Lions 15-0 state championship team in 1973, catching two touchdowns in the semi-final game. As a senior, he earned numerous honors including All-District, All-East Texas, All-State and was on the Blue Chip All-America team. At Baylor, Lee played tight end and lettered from 1975-1978. He made the All-SWC team in 1975 and 1976 and was the 1975 SWC Freshman of the Year. Lee played in the 1978 Hula and Senior Bowls before being drafted by the NFL in 1979 in the third round by the Miami Dolphins. He played ten years with the Dolphins which included a trip to Super Bowl XIX. He also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks during his NFL career.
He was preceded in death by brother, Anthony Lee, and sister, Ada Lee Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are spouse: Denise Lee of Fort Worth; sons: Ronnie Lee Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, LaWhalen (Rosie) Lee of Dallas, Texas; daughters: Danika Lee of Fort Worth, Texas, Rhonnie Lee (Benjamin) of Missouri, Shenna Lee of Florida and Tameka Jones of Tyler, Texas; brothers: Ernest (Carol) Lee Jr. of Longview; sisters: Marva Young and Phyllis (Sherman) Johnson both of Tyler, Texas, and Cynthia Wright of Irving, Texas; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
