Mourning the Loss of “B” Association Members

Marvin “Butch” McBroom- Baseball 1965-66

Marvin “Butch” McBroom, 78, beloved husband, dad, granddaddy, and mentor passed away on Thursday morning, November 24, 2022.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on December 18, 2022, at 5 P.M., at UTA Clay Gould Ballpark on the corner of Fielder Road and Park Row in Arlington, Texas, 76013.   

Butch was born on December 9, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas to M.W. “Buster” and Rosie McBroom.  On December 6, 1986, he married Lynn Carroll. They have three children, Dana, Greg, and Chad.  Butch attended Baylor University where he received his Master’s Degree and was a member of the 1966 Southwest Conference championship baseball team.  Butch was the head baseball coach at UT-Arlington for 26 years.  Butch had over 800 wins while coaching at UTA.  There he touched and mentored many young lives with his passion for baseball!  Butch was a man of great faith that brought him through many trials during his life. Butch enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, and just enjoying being at his ranch.  Additionally, he was an avid reader.  Most of all, Butch will be remembered for his love and devotion for his family.

Butch is survived by his wife, Lynn; his children, Dana and husband Ralph Martinez, Chad and wife Mindy McBroom; his grandchildren, Sydni, Abigail, Brett, Megan, Isabelle, and Caise; and by two great-grandchildren, Tristin and Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his son, Greg Carroll.
