Joseph DeWoody- Football (’03-’04)

Congratulations to Joseph DeWoody for being named this year’s Energy Services and Technology Executive of the Year by D Magazine’s D CEO! DeWoody currently serves as CEO of Valor Mineral Management located in Fort Worth, TX. DeWoody’s experiences and innovative thinking are playing a huge role in shaping the future of energy technology. He has taken a unique approach to oil, gas and mineral management which has allowed Valor and their proprietary technology solution, mineral.tech® to not only optimize revenue for their clients, but also take the burden of asset management off their hands.

DeWoody was awarded academic all-conference honors and the 2004 Offensive Lineman of the Year award during his time at Baylor.

Mike Johnson- Football (’94-’97)

Congrats to Mike Johnson for being inducted into the Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor! The Hall of Honor event was held on November 5th, 2021. Johnson moved to Katy from Chicago just before his junior year of high school. Affectionately known by his teammates and friends as “Big Mike,” Johnson was a four-year starter for the Bears from 1994-1997 and a two-time All Big 12 Conference offensive lineman. He was also a member of the Baylor Track & Field team,  competing in the shot put.  The Chicago, Illinois, native was voted MVP and team captain his junior and senior seasons, was selected as a member of the Baylor Football’s All Decade team for the 1990s, and currently serves as Past President on the “B” Association’s Board of Directors.

Cotton Davidson- Football (’49, ’51-’53) and Baseball (’52-’53)

We are excited to celebrate Cotton Davidson on the official release of his new book, The Rifleman! A book signing event will be hosted for Cotton by the Gatesville Museum and Historical Center on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be food and entertainment with historic videos running, and the museum has a spacious area great for visiting with old friends. The Rifleman, is a handsome addition that chronicles much of Cotton’s amazing story from his years growing up in Coryell County, through his many pro-football and coaching years, to settling back into the same area he came from, Gatesville, Texas. The book will be released early next year to customary outlets for books. Until then, it will only be available from the Gatesville Museum at 718 East Main Street, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
