Welcome Home, Letterwinners!

What a great day to be a Baylor Bear! As the fall season is now fully underway, we are excited to welcome you back to McLane Stadium on football game days.  We anxiously await the opportunity, once again, to engage in spirited fellowship at the Letterwinners Lounge and Tailgate.

The excitement of Baylor football is everywhere. Jitters from my old playing days return when hearing the daily band practices and watching the stadium crews prepare the field for the upcoming game.  The spirit of competition is high. It’s time!  I hope you are just as excited as I am. Let’s fill the stands on Saturday and do our part in cheering the Bears to victory on Saturday.

Please allow me to pause for one moment to reflect on the lives of two members of the Baylor Football family who passed away recently… Thomas “Buffalo” Brown and Paul Kluge. Thomas was a former teammate and a member of the 1979 Peach Bowl Championship team.  At 64 years old, he was much too young to leave us.  I have many fond memories of Thomas.  For a big fella, he had the coolest walk I’ve ever seen. Thomas succumbed to cancer last month and he will be missed dearly.  Paul, a Waco native and fellow University High School graduate, had three loves in this life – his lovely wife Karrie, Baylor Women’s Basketball, and fishing.  I looked forward to seeing him every year on Big Cat’s Fishing Trip. Paul, too, lost his battle to cancer in August. Please remember the Brown and Kluge families in your prayers.

Finally, we are excited that the Letterwinners Lounge will return to 100% capacity this season. Masks are not required, but they are recommended. Additional measures have been taken to protect members and guests with the installation of ActivePure® Technology in the HVAC systems throughout the lounge area.  ActivePure® continuously and proactively generates oxidizing molecules that are safely released into the air to eliminate pathogens in the air and on surfaces, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. We want to express our sincere appreciation to football letterwinner Clark Hood, Vice President of Business Development and Sales for ActivePure®, who donated the equipment to the “B”  Association.

I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

Sic ‘em!
