Count Your Blessings

As we approach the final days of 2020, it’s truly a blessing that we made it through the year.  No doubt, this year has presented us with many challenges, but honestly, at the end of day, we can be thankful for the good things that happened along the way. When I was kid, there was a hymn we learned in church titled, Count Your Blessings. The first verse says, “When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.”  The words still ring true to me today.  When we focus more on the positive aspects of our lives, God’s blessings begin to reveal themselves more vividly than ever. Stay positive, Baylor Bears. Fight through the despair and be confident that our future is brighter than ever before.

At the General Membership Meeting this week, the association’s membership approved the 2021 slate of officers and directors for the “B” Association’s Board of Directors.  Two directors and one officer will rotate off the board at the end of this month, and the new directors will begin serving terms on January 1.

I hope you will join me in thanking 2020 president, Michael Johnson, for his leadership over the past year. Mike’s leadership role with the “B” Association totals six years of loyal service. His knowledge and experience with the “B” Association have been incredible assets through the years, and we look forward to his continued service on the executive committee as past president in 2021.

As we welcome the newest board members onto our leadership team, I want to express our sincere gratitude to the officers and directors who will complete their terms at the end of this month. They are: Mr. Mario Price (football), Mrs. Jennifer Washington (track), and Mr. Ken Buckley (football). We are a much stronger letterwinners organization today because of their incredible contributions.

Note: Jon Topolski  concludes his term as director, but he will continue service to the association as vice president beginning January 1. 2021.

Finally, thank you for your support to the Baylor “B” Association. You continue to make a difference.  We look forward to working together with you on the tremendous opportunities that await us in 2021. May the divine light of Christ shine in your life this Christmas season. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

Sic ’em,

Walter Abercrombie

Associate AD/Executive Director, Baylor “B” Association
