Two Baylor letterwinners have launched new ventures in the Food Truck industry.   In 2019, Curtis Jerrells (BSK ’06-’09) teamed up with his close childhood fried Daniel Thomas to start, Anything’s Baked Potato, his food truck business located in east Austin, Texas.  It’s the perfect spot for hungry customers to enjoy a baked potato with their choice of a variety of delicious toppings, including gumbo, shrimp, BBQ, and fried chicken. Jerrell’s said that his dream is to grow the business large enough to transition to a “brick and mortar” location one day.

In the meantime, he and business partner, depend greatly on word of mouth advertising, and food review bloggers. So, next time you are in Longhorn country, make plans to stop and visit a fellow Baylor Bear to check out his popular potatoes.  For more information, you can visit his page on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/anythingsbakedpotato/

Also establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the Food Truck industry is another fellow Baylor Bear Vinny Rhodes (FB ’05-’08). Bear’s Smokin’ BBQ is located in Denison, Texas.  Rhodes serves a number of American fare food choices, but he specializes in home grown Texas BBQ.  As one customer put it, “I got the Texas Monthly BBQ issue last night, and read about the 50 best BBQ joints in the Lone Star State. They missed one – Denison’s High School Football Coach Vinny Rhodes’ Bear’s Smokin’ BBQ.

It’s as good as anything out there.” Doubling as a high school football coach and a full-time business owner can be a real challenge, but Rhodes has managed to pull it off and has become quite good at it.  When you’re in the north Texas/Denison area, give Bear’s Smokin’ BBQ a try and tell us about it.
