Baylor Soccer Battles in Back to Back Double OTs to Start Season

For the first time in Baylor history, Baylor Soccer (0-0-2) opened the season with back-to-back, double-overtime scoreless draws.  After hosting TCU for the home opener on Sept. 11, the Bears traveled to Lubbock to take on Texas Tech, a team picked in the pre-season to win the Big 12 conference title.  The Bears first two battles are a testament to the toughness of a Baylor team that features seven freshman, four of which are starters this season.

A key player in Baylor’s team strength, junior defender Kayley Ables, received Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors for two consecutive weeks.  Ables is the first Baylor Soccer player to earn back-to-back weekly honors in nearly two decades. Ginny Rosario-Hull was named back-to-back Newcomer of the Week in 2001.

The Bears travel to Ames, Iowa for their next contest to face the Iowa State Cyclones on Sept. 25.
