Letterwinner Shout Outs – February 2020

Nina Davis (Basketball 2014-17) had her No. 13 jersey retired in a pregame ceremony Saturday, January 18, before the Lady Bears’ 91-51 victory over West Virginia. Davis was one of six Baylor players to have 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. She ranks fifth all-time in both scoring and rebounding and earned All-America status in all four seasons with the team by various entities.

Maurice Linguist (Football 2003-06) was named defensive backs coach for the Dallas Cowboys. An 11-year coaching veteran, Linguist coached at Minnesota, Mississippi State, Iowa State, and Texas A&M prior to joining the Cowboys. He also served stints at the University of Buffalo, James Madison, Valdosta State, and Baylor.

Royce O’Neal (Basketball 2014-15) signed a long-term contract extension with the Utah Jazz. O’Neale, who has excelled as a three-and-D player for the Jazz, was set to become a restricted free agent this summer. Utah signed O’Neale in 2017 after he went un-drafted out of Baylor and played overseas for two years.

Max Muncy (Baseball 2010-12) will be named Baylor’s Young Alumnus of the Year. The Young Alumni of the Year honor recognizes a graduate age 40 or under who has demonstrated remarkable achievement in the previous year. Muncy is a professional baseball player with the Los Angeles Dodgers. During his Baylor career, Muncy was a freshman All-American in 2010, led the Bears in most major offensive categories in 2011 and was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 2012.
