It has been an entertaining fall season in Baylor Athletics. Watching our football and volleyball teams rise to national prominence has been exhilarating. Even better, both teams are not yet finished for the year. Top-ranked Baylor Volleyball continues their journey as they take on #5-ranked Wisconsin in the national semifinals in Pittsburgh on December 19th, and Matt Rhule and the #7-ranked Baylor Football team will face the #5-ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on January 1, 2020, in New Orleans, LA.
Truly, it’s a great day to be a Baylor Bear!
At the general membership meeting last month, the “B” Association membership approved a new slate of officers and directors for 2020. Five directors will end their 3-year terms on the board at the end of this month, and the new directors will begin serving beginning January 1.
We are thankful for the leadership of 2019 president Ken Buckley. Ken oversaw collaborative efforts with Baylor Athletics Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) and he served as the university’s resident expert with helping students successfully transition from college to professional careers. Ken’s knowledge and experience with the “B” Association have been incredible assets since he joined the board in 2014. We are fortunate that Ken will continue his service on the executive committee as past-president in 2020.

As we welcome in our newest leaders to the board, we also wish to express our sincere gratitude to the officers and directors who will complete their terms at the end of this year. They are: Mr. Jeff Cunningham (track), Mr. Wayne Dunlap (track), Mrs. Jennifer Martinsen (volleyball), Mr. Richard Naylor (trainer), and Mr. Pat Combs (baseball). Note: Randy Martin will vacate his position as director, but will continue service to the association as an officer (vice president) beginning January 1. 2020. Jon Topolski, who was scheduled to rotated off the board this year, will remain to serve the final year of Randy Martin’s term.
Finally, I think we can all agree this has been a season of love, redemption, blessings, and grace. I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and support. While it may be difficult to see at times, you really are making a difference in the lives of our current student-athletes and future members. I look forward to the tremendous opportunities that await us in 2020.
