Focus Key to Victory vs Texas Tech

What a Great Day to be a Baylor Bear… AND what an exciting time of year it is. Homecoming weekend is here! Since 1909, Baylor Homecoming has summoned letterwinners, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to return to campus to reflect on old times, renew old friendships, and to reignite that special bond that feels like family. I always look forward to sharing this special time with you.

The undefeated Bears (5-0) will enter the game on Saturday against Texas Tech (3-2) as the clear favorite. Coming off of an impressive road win against Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas, the Bears have shown the kind of potential many fans did not believe they possessed at the start of the season. This week, the team cracked the AP Top 25, settling in at #22 and creating quite a buzz around the country. The Bears are a relatively young and inexperienced team, but judging by the way they have performed, no one bothered to tell them that. They are playing with intensity, grit, and purpose. Everything is looking good for our Baylor Bears. Something tells me that Coach Rhule and his staff have paid particular attention to keeping this young team humble, focused, and hungry for victory. That will be the key to winning the game on Saturday.

We congratulate All-American, Lauren Cox from Lady Bears Basketball, who will represent Baylor Athletics and the “B” Association as one of four Princesses in the 2019 Homecoming Queen’s Court. Lauren was officially announced as a member of the Queen’s Court during Pigskin at Waco Hall on Thursday evening.

The weather on Saturday will be beautiful with highs in the upper 60’s and lows in the 50’s. While it will be much cooler than the three previous home games, I recommend that you still bring plenty of sunscreen for 3:00pm afternoon kickoff. You will not want to miss a single play in this game. Don’t forget to visit our Letterwinners Tailgate which will open three hours before kickoff (12:00pm) and will close 30 minutes prior to kickoff. The Lounge will open at its normal time, 1 1/2 hours before kickoff (1:30pm).

Sic ’em!

Walter Abercrombie
Associate AD/Executive Director, Baylor “B” Association
