Come Together. Come Home.

One of my favorite TV commercials is the one that features the hotel marketing consultant who instructs his clients to toss aside all their marketing ideas and just say, “Bada Book. Bada Boom.” I thought about that commercial recently when a reporter asked what Baylor Homecoming meant to me.

Homecoming is a very special time of year for the Baylor Family. Since 1909, Baylor Homecoming has summoned letterwinners, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to return home to renew old alliances, associations, and friendships, and to rekindle the Baylor Spirit. Reunions, bonfires, parades, tailgates, good food, and exciting football games have all enhanced our feeling of togetherness and family. Much like the simplistic, “Bada Book. Bada Boom,” if someone asks me to describe Baylor homecoming, I’ll just say, “Family.”

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow and catching up on the goings on in your lives.

Sic ‘em!
