“B” Association to Honor Former Wide Receiver Bruce Davis

The “B” Association and Baylor Athletics will recognize former wide receiver, Bruce Davis, as a 2018 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Abilene Christian game on Saturday, September 1.

A two-sport letterwinner in both Football and Track & Field, Davis was a key member of the 1980 Southwest Conference Championship team that earned an invitation to the Cotton Bowl in 1981. Two years later, he led the Bears to a 7-4 season and a 1983 Bluebonnet Bowl bid. In track, Davis, a 6-time All American, set the world record in the 60 yard dash with a time of 6.17 seconds. He was a member of the 1981 and 1984 Southwest Conference Championship relay teams in the 4X100 meters, and he was the conference champion in the 100m sprint in 1984.

Following his senior season, the Cleveland Browns selected Davis in the second round of the NFL draft. He played one season with the Browns before retiring from the game and returning to his roots in Dallas, Texas. Currently, Davis serves as the transportation supervisor in the Lancaster Independent School District.
