Alumni Honored in February

On February 9-11, the “B” Association hosted the second Women’s All-Sport Letterwinners Reunion since 2016 to honor former female student-athletes from all sports, many of whom helped pioneer the advancement of women’s sports at Baylor University. The fun-filled weekend included several scheduled Baylor women’s sporting events, a 5K Walkathon with a special appearance by University President, Dr. Linda Livingstone, a delicious brunch at McLane Stadium overlooking the campus, and an on-court recognition during the Lady Bears Basketball game against TCU. The women who participated in the Walkathon raised over $12,000 through solicited sponsorships from family and friends. Proceeds from the Walkathon were presented to Baylor’s Director of Athletics, Mack Rhoades, for the purpose of supporting Women’s Athletics at Baylor.

The following weekend, the “B” Association, in partnership with Coach Scott Drew and Baylor Men’s Basketball, hosted its annual Alumni Day at the Baylor vs. Texas Tech game on February 17. Approximately forty former players returned to Waco to attend the game. Among the returning alumni were former Harlem Globetrotter, Aundre “Hotshot” Branch, and Baylor Hall of Fame members Jim Turner, Carroll Dawson, and Brian Skinner. The alumni received men’s basketball team shirts and they were recognized on-court during the game. This year, Baylor fans also received a special treat as the alumni tossed t-shirts to the crowd following their recognition. The evening ended in perfect fashion as the Bears pulled off a stunning upset victory over the Red Raiders 59-57.
