“B” Association to Honor Former Center John Adickes

The “B” Association and Baylor Athletics will recognize former All-Southwest Conference Center, John Adickes, as a 2017 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Iowa State game on Saturday, November 18.

A former team captain, Adickes was a four-year starter for the Bears from 1983-1986. He was a two-time All-Southwest Conference Center, and a 3rd team All-American selection. He is a member of Baylor Football’s prestigious All-Decade Team of the 1980’s and Dave Campbell’s All-Century Team. He is also the brother of former Baylor All-American, Mark Adickes.

During his four-year career at Baylor, Adickes led the Bears to three Bowl games, including Bowl victories over LSU in the 1985 Liberty Bowl and Colorado in the 1986 Bluebonnet Bowl. 

Following his senior year, Adickes was among the nation’s top players to receive an invitation to the Japan Bowl All-Star game. In the spring of 1987, he was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 6th Round of the NFL Draft. Adickes spent four seasons in the NFL, before concluding his pro football career with the Minnesota Vikings.

Adickes is currently Senior Vice President and Financial Planning Specialist for Morgan Stanley in San Antonio, Texas, where he, wife Lisa, and son Spencer reside.
