“B” Association to Honor Former Running Back David Mims

The “B” Association and Baylor Athletics will recognize former All-Southwest Conference Running Back, David Mims, as a 2017 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Texas game on Saturday, October 28.

As a star player from Daingerfield High School, Mims went on to earn four varsity letters in Football for the Bears from 1989-1992.  He currently ranks #2 All-time in Yards Per Attempt with an impressive 5.6 yards per carry average and is among Baylor’s Top 10 leaders in Total Career Rushing Yards.  Mims led his team in rushing two consecutive years in 1991 and 1992 and he was the team leader in All Purpose Yards in 1992.  His stellar performances on the field earned him a spot on Baylor Football’s prestigious All-Decade Team of the 1990s.

After leaving Baylor, Mims went on to play in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons for two seasons as a standout wide receiver before finishing his professional football career with the Carolina Panthers in 1995.

He is the current CEO of Bazaar Savings located in Daingerfield, Texas, and he runs a non profit organization with other pro athletes that focuses its efforts on preventing childhood obesity.
