Former Baylor Standout Jay Lee to Receive Bobby Jones Award

Athletics - Football photo day - Jay Lee – Allison Indoor practice facility – headshot, mugs, staff coach group photos, team, Art Briles and Freshman - 08/13/2015Baylor “B” Association is proud to recognize former Baylor wide receiver and Allen, Texas native, Jay Lee, as the 2016 recipient of the Bobby Jones Memorial Award.  The award is presented each year to a senior player for outstanding Leadership, Sportsmanship, and Team Play shown during practice for and performance in the Bears’ annual Homecoming football game.

Texas Tech University vs Baylor UniversityLee is being recognized for his Leadership and Team Play during the week of last year’s 45-27 Homecoming victory over the Iowa State Cyclones.  Despite the rainy conditions, he and the Bears’ offense scored six touchdowns and piled up 485 yards of total offense.  Lee also achieved excellence in the classroom throughout his entire senior year.  Last spring, Lee’s stellar academic performance earned him a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

During his 4-year career at Baylor, Lee led the Bears to the most successful five-year span in school history, including two conference championships, three bowl victories, and 50 wins in five seasons.

His leadership and commitment to excellence on and off the field has been an inspiration to his teammates, coaches, and all who know him.

The Bobby Jones Memorial Award will be presented to Lee by the sons of the late Bobby Jones, Mark Jones and Steve Jones and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Katherine.
