The “B” Association and Baylor Athletics will honor former All-American Offensive Lineman, Jason Smith, as a 2016 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Oklahoma State game on Saturday, September 24.
A native of Dallas, Texas, this former Tight End started four season on the Offensive Line for the Bears from 2005-2008, earning 1st team All-Big 12 Conference honors and 1st team All-America honors by the Associated Press and the Football Writers Association of America in 2008. Smith anchored an Offensive Line that helped generate 29 rushing touchdowns, the third-highest total in school history. He is also a member of Baylor Football’s All-Decade Team of the 2000s.
Following his senior year, Smith was among the nation’s top players to receive an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl All-Star Game. In the spring of 2009, he was selected as the second overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams. Smith spent four seasons in the league before retiring and settling on his ranch in Fair Field, Texas with his wife Dacie and son Jate. He is currently the Steward and Production Coordinator at the Twin Lakes Covered Arena and Horse Training Center in Fair Field.
