“B” Association to Honor Former Defensive Lineman Steve Grumbine

3 steveThe “B” Association and Baylor Athletics will honor former two-time All-Southwest Conference Defensive Lineman, Steve Grumbine, as a 2016 Baylor Football Legend at the Baylor vs. Northwestern State game on Friday.

A four-year varsity letterman for the Bears from 1983 through 1986, Grumbine was the anchor of a defensive line that led the Bears to three bowl games in four years, including a 21-7 victory over the LSU Tigers in the 1985 Liberty Bowl and a 21-9 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes in the 1986 Bluebonnet Bowl.  He led the Bears to back-to-back 9-3 seasons earning first team All-Conference honors following his junior and senior seasons.

As a senior, Grumbine joined Jim Thorp Award recipient, Thomas Everett, and All-American defensive back, Ron Francis, to make up one of the most feared defensive units to ever wear the green and gold. He is a member of the Baylor Football’s All-Decade Team of the 1980s.

Grumbine is currently employed as the state sales representative for SpekTrack in Ozark, Missouri.  Joining him on the field to accept the award will be his son David, parents Grant and Kay Grumbine, and longtime family friend John DiPasquale.

We hope you will come out to the game and join us in congratulating this year’s first Baylor Football Legend, Steve Grumbine!
