The “B” Association will recognize Baylor former linebacker, Kris Micheaux, as a Football Legend during the Baylor vs. Rice football game on Saturday, September 26, 2015. A native of Jersey Village, Texas, and a National Bluechip All-American from Jersey Village High School, Micheaux earned three varsity letter awards for the Bears from 1997 through 2000. In the early years of the Big 12 Conference, Micheaux quickly established himself to be among the dominant players in the talent-rich conference.
For two consecutive years, Micheaux anchored the Bears defense, leading the team in tackles and tackles for loss, in 1999 and 2000 respectively. He currently ranks 4th in career solo tackles and 5th all-time in total tackles. In additional to his stellar athletic performances on defense, Micheaux was also selected team captain by his teammates and coaches for his outstanding leadership on and off the field.
After graduating from Baylor in 2001, Micheaux entered the football coaching profession and began his career as an assistant coach at West High School before accepting a graduate assistantship at Middle Tennessee State University. After completing his graduate course work and assistantship at MTSU, Micheaux secured brief coaching stints at Tyler Junior College, Royce City High School, and Moody High School. He served as co-defensive coordinator at Katy Taylor High School before becoming the defensive coordinator at Gonzales High School, where he led the Apaches to the 2006 Class 3A, Division I quarterfinals with a 10-3 season record. In 2008, he was named head coach and athletic director at Gonzalez.
Micheaux is currently teaching at Flower Mound. He and his wife, Mandy, have two sons, Sir Parker and Evan.
Congratulations, Kris!
