Baylor Technologies Round 1 Presentations – Dense Wifi

The new Technology Entrepreneurship  course is pleased to present the Round 1 presentations and collateral from our students’ investigation in the technology landscape.

Keep your expectations modest, as we are:

  • Building a new process in terms of interface with researchers
  • Using a new curriculum and instruction that we consider Beta, but constantly improving
  • The students only had 9 days to work on this, and were interrupted by Spring Break!

The Australia and Asia Teams investigated one of two Dense Wifi patents:

Arrival in Shanghai Pudong – June 5th – Updated

Screenshot 2015-05-14 05.42.26

Updated with Shanghai Tour Confirmation here:

https://app.box.com/s/a88wp5ti9hv5nqozmlrdyi25uu3ka9z3

When we arrive in Shanghai, we will be staying at the Dahzong Airport Hotel (aka Motel 168). Its not fancy, but we will be staying in the nicer South Building. The hotel is located between the first and second terminal by five minute walking distance.

Our meet up plan is to have breakfast together in the Merrlin restaurant at 7:00a on June 6th.  I just found out that they may have changed the name of the restaurant, but food will be on the first floor of the South building.

Our tour guide will pick us up at 12p to take us into Shanghai. The morning gives us a chance to get acquainted, settled, and hopefully get our cash, cell phones and transportation cards & tickets set up.

Everyone’s flight arrival schedule is here:

https://app.box.com/s/e348pr2h4m3kwn4yy220t63mxtcexpgj

Wonderful Article about Shanghai from the Financial Times

Distinctive Living: Inside the Outsider’s Shanghai

In part two of the Distinctive Living series, discover what it is like to live and work in Shanghai. We explore the challenges and opportunities as well as the day-to-day practicalities – from where expats choose to settle, to where they work, play and travel as well as experience the country’s vibrant culture.

For our American students, take special note of the sections on culture and work styles!

Packing for China

I’ve been asked for a pack list… consider this off the cuff, but I will add things as I think of them:

Paperwork and Tools

  • Passport
  • Copies of Passport in each bag
  • Debit Card for ATM use in China (Call your bank)
  • UNLOCKED GSM cell phone (and charger)
  • Laptop
  • Copies of prescriptions and 9 week supply of medicine.
  • Electric plug adapter and/or transformer

Clothing – remember, it is hot and humid

  • For class… your usual hot weather casual wear
  • For site visits… business casual
  • For final event… suit (or have one made in Shanghai)

Extras

  • Rain gear, wind breaker or Sun hat

Remember to leave a little room for gifts to come home. China is a great place to shop for silk, pearls, and custom clothing. Pearls for mom is a must.

Suitcase (shoot for 25″ and no more than 44 lbs). If you forget anything, its usually available in China at a low price. Ningbo has a Walmart.
