Gene Annotation On PhageNotes 2.6.19
Rationale:
To begin the genome analysis of phage NapoleonB, DNA Master has been chosen to be the software to annotate the genetic sequence. Phage Elesar was picked to be the sequence for the tutorial, in order to familiarize with the functions and features of the software. PhageNotes is also introduced as a convenient way to annotate genes and revising them.
Materials:
- Laptop
- DNA Mastering Program
- Gene sequence of phage Elesar
Procedure:
The consideration for a hit on HHPRED has been changed to only consider the probability instead of probabilty and E-values.
In gene 23:
A transmembrane helix and coiled-coil segments was detected in the sequence, FtsL ; Cell division protein FtsL was matched and had a 96.41% probability.
The new changes were made on the PhageNotes.
Registered an account on Phamerator.
Gene 52, 53 were checked for the annotations made.
Results/Next Steps:
The final results from PhageNotes.
The next lab is scheduled to be Introduction to PECAAN and potentially start working on phage NapoleonB.
