February 4, 2019 Annotations
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to learn the rest of annotations, and to complete the annotation for Elesar genes 52 and 53
Tools/Procedures:
Tools:
- DNA Master
- NCBI
- PhagesDB
Procedures:
- A BLAST was performed on Elesar genes 52 and 53.
- An HHpred search was performed for the two genes.
- The data collected was analyzed to determine if a function could be called for Elesar genes 52 and 53.
- It was determined, through BLAST and HHpred, that there was no known function for both of the genes. The probability on HHpred was lower than 90% for both genes, and BLAST results found no conserved domains.
- The following annotation was recorded for gene 52. SSC:37347,37562 CP:no, no start SCS:both ST: Blast-start:Ryan,57,NCBI,Q1:S1,98%,6e-30 Gap:4 LO:NA RBS:Kibler7,Karlin Medium,2.657,-3.320,no F:NKF SIF-BLAST:NKF SIF-HHPred:NKF SIF-Syn:NKF
- The following annotation was recorded for gene 53. SSC:37559,37732 CP:no, no start SCS:both ST: Blast-start:Elesar,50,PhagesDB,Q1:S1, 100%, 7e-23 Gap:4 LO:NA RBS:Kibler7, Karlin Medium,2.893,-2.740,no F:NKF SIF-BLAST:NKF SIF-HHPred:NKF SIF-Syn:NKF
- The annotations were saved.
Results:
Annotations for Elesar genes 52 and 53 were completed, excepting ST. No known function was found for either of the genes.
Conclusion:
The continued process of learning how to correctly annotate genes from Elesar will help in the future with the annotations of NapoleonB. The annotations were completed for the two genes, except for ST, which will be learned in the future. Neither gene matched with any known functions or conserved domains.
Future Work:
Future work will include learning starterator and continuing to practice annotations, which will help in the future annotations of NapoleonB.
