DNA Master BLAST tutorial 1.28.19
Rationale:
To begin the genome analysis of phage NapoleonB, DNA Master has been chosen to be the software to annotate the genetic sequence. Phage Elesar was picked to be the sequence for the tutorial, in order to familiarize with the functions and features of the software.
Materials:
- Laptop
- DNA Mastering Program
- Gene sequence of phage Elesar
Procedure:
- Auto-Annotate phage Elesar
- selected gene 19 protein sequence
- BLASTed the sequence on NCBI protein database
- Used the GeneMark website to predict the location of the genes: http://exon.gatech.edu/GeneMark/tmp/gmhmmp.20190201.024807.19931.gmhmmp.out.pdf
Results/Next Steps:
Learned the basic operations of gene BLAST and the gene prediction of GeneMark. From the outputs of these websites and DNA Master genes in a sequence can be predicted more easily.
