Elesar BLAST 1/28/2019
Rationale: BLAST elesar fasta file
Process
- auto-annotated again
- genome -> auto-annotate -> annotate
- auto-annotate with pecaan
- entered phage name “elesar”
- uploaded fasta file
- clicked “process”
- copied pecaan documentation, pasted it into documentation tab of dna master
- removed documentation previously there
- clicked “parse”, once directed to a new window, clicked the new “parse” button.
- Viewed ORFS
- DNA -> frames
- ORFS button in right hand corner
- DNA -> frames
- Learned how to change start codon
- changed start codon of gene 1 from 84 to 45
- BLAST gene with DNA Master
- select gene
- blast tab
- blast this gene
- wait for BLAST
- save to database tab
- select E value
- save to database
- select gene
Results/Conclusion:
I could view the different ORFS and evaluate the best starting codon.
Future Steps: learn how annotate a gene
