Continuing their tradition of ably representing the university, Baylor students were honored at the Vienna International Model United Nations Conference, held July 30-Aug. 3 at the Vienna International Centre United Nations Headquarters. A total of seven Baylor students participated.
Baylor students received the top award of “Outstanding Delegate” in three of the five committees simulated at the conference:
- General Assembly First: Matt Walker, representing the United Kingdom (junior, University Scholar)
- World Trade Organization: Sahir Amlani, representing India (senior, political science and history)
- UNODC-CCPJ: Ben Hunt, representing the Islamic Republic of Iran (sophomore, University Scholar)
In addition, three other Baylor students were named “Honorable Mention” in their committees, the second highest award. These students are:
- UNODC-CCPJ: Bailey Craig, representing Guatemala (junior, psychology and Spanish)
- Human Rights Council, 1st Honorable Mention: Grecia Sarda, representing Belgium (senior, international studies)
- Human Rights Council, 2nd Honorable Mention: David Deulofeu, representing Germany (senior, political science)
While at the conference, the students also had the privilege to meet with representives of the United States Mission to the UN in Vienna. The US-UN Mission interviewed our students and has posted those video interviews on their Facebook account.
