Performance Task: 

Mission: In a group of three, you are to create a presentation that will be given to the President of the United States in efforts to inform him of the Armenian Genocide and why it should or should not be recognized as a genocide in America.

Goal: You are to show your understanding of the events that occurred in Turkey during 1915-1917 and the affects that it has on political relationships throughout the world even today. In your group, you are to complete the following tasks:

• Create a pamphlet that provides information and background of the Armenian Genocide, including information on the Ottoman Empire and their relationship with the Armenians prior to the genocide, why did the genocide occur, provide statistics and photos, and finally the over all impact that this genocide had on the world.
• Write a persuasive letter to be given to POTUS explaining why or why not the Genocide should be acknowledge as one in America. The letter should first give brief background information on the Armenian Genocide then include the formal definition of what a genocide is by the UN then following up with evidence that proves it was or was not a genocide. The letter must have three main arguments with evidence, statistics and other sources. Maximum of two pages single spaced, proper letter formatting.
• A 5-8 minutes presentation the encompasses both aspects from the pamphlet and letter in an informative, professional and respective manor. You can use Prezi, PowerPoint, or another form of a presentation tool to help guide your speech.
