Digital Obsolescence is the risk of losing digital information due to hardware, software, or file formats that are needed to access it are no longer available. This means that if you don’t update your software or are using older computers, others might be unable to access certain things because they are outdated. One example is how a file from a very old version of MS Word won’t open on a brand-new version due to software obsolescence. Another example is how eventually CDs and DVDs will become obsolete as we move into a more digitized future.
