Dr. Joshua King (English, Baylor) will facilitate a symposium entitled “Representations of Religion in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture.” This panel will include an opening presentation by Dr. Mark Knight (English, Lancaster University, UK) entitled “Why George Eliot Doesn’t Help Us: Reimagining the Role of Evangelicalism in the Victorian Novel” and responses from Dr. Lesa Scholl (English, University of Queensland, Australia) and Dr. Andy Tate (English, Lancaster University, UK).
