I admire the initiative that he is taking to help his museum, but this is ridiculous. There has to be a better way to protest other than destroying your art. He has to be destroying a lot of connections with others along with the collection. If a museum’s purpose to to showcase the collection and educate the public, then how was this a smart move. This is worse than looting in my opinion.
I equate this to burning your inventory as a store owner because you can’t sell it. It makes no sense fiscally and there is absolutely a better way to protest. In fact, maybe he should try more marketing or publicity tactics.
He comments that he should be getting more funding simply because he isn’t dealing with the mob. Should he also get more funding for his museum because he pays taxes. I believe in rewarding positive behavior, but I’m not a fan of justifying his following of the law with more funding for his museum. Tough situation but I think he needs to remember that his “leverage” is against the code of ethics established.
