Henry A. McArdle

Throughout his life, Henry (Harry) McArdle was devoted to the arts.  By 1868 he followed his artistic calling by teaching drawing and painting at Baylor University in Independence, Texas.  McArdle became a student of Texas history and made  a point of doing in-depth historical research before he painted major Texas events or important individuals.

This exhibit will explore both McArdle’s life and his work, his connection to Texas and Baylor University, and feature eight paintings by McArdle at The Texas Collection.

Even today we are learning more about Henry McArdle as previously unknown writings and paintings are discovered.  If you know of a painting that could be a McArdle please leave a comment below.
