Principal Investigator

Dr. Erica D. Bruce

Dr. Bruce’s area of research interest is in improving environmental / human health risk assessment methods and elucidating toxic mechanisms of action. Dr. Bruce’s efforts have focused on improving toxicity estimates linking exposure to environmental concentrations of hazardous chemicals to human health effects. Dr. Bruce uses quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs) to help to bridge the gap between costly, time intensive experiments and toxicity data obtained from these experiments. This research helps to reduce the uncertainty associated with toxicity assessment and aids in elucidating toxic mechanisms of actions. Dr. Bruce uses mammalian cell culture systems to assess the effects of exposures to environmental contaminants and investigate mechanisms of action.
