my personal leadership philosophy

as a leader, I believe it is important to focus on what our followers do, how they do it, and why they do what they do. as leaders, it is our responsibility to provide for followers. this means identifying the needs of followers and being able to explain their behavior. this is an example of a psychodynamic leadership approach. (an approach that originated from Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory, which helped us better understand human behavior and sub-conscious influences.) psychodynamic leadership approach focuses on the individual follower and what they need to be a more productive member of a group. this means focusing on “emotional and psychological realm”(Northouse 296) of followers. my leadership philosophy is to provide for the needs of followers and to create an environment that encourages followers to thrive.
