White Horse

We went to the White Horse in Uffington this past Friday.

We first went to the small town called Wantage to have lunch and wait for a bus that only comes once a day. The bus ended up coming late and we were afraid that we were going to have to walk all the way to the White Horse. Thankfully, the bus did come (twenty minutes late) and we were on our way! The bus ride was fun because it felt like we were on a less than safe roller coaster. He left the door wide open, so the breeze was coming in and we were driving really fast.

We finally got to Uffington and we began the hike up to the White Horse. It was a beautiful day perfect for hiking. We were able to see Dragon Hill. Legend has it that St. George defeated a dragon on that hill. There’s a white spot on the hill that is incapable of growing grass. It is said that the white is dragon’s blood, which would explain why grass cannot grow there.

We finally got to see the White Horse. It was so big! It was really cool to see something that has been there for hundreds of years. My only complaint is that there was not a perfect view of all of it. If only we had a hand glider like the guy above us! It really was a sight to see and I am glad I can say that I’ve seen it!

The group did a great job executing the hike! Thanks guys!

Getting excited! The White Horse is close by!

The best picture I could get of the White Horse. Everyone is hiking up!
