It’s another year

4 07 2012

Earlier I received an email from Mary saying the program needs help on orientation. Suddenly I just paused. How time flies! It’s another
year already.

I came to Baylor last May. As a student without any business background, I started from summer semester with IMS. Intense class schedule and unfamiliar materials gave me a hard time, but at the same time gave me a lot of good friends. We spent a lot of time together studying, hanging out, and getting familiar with Baylor, Waco. When Summer Two finally ended, we were more than ready for the fall.

Then it’s the fall orientation. I remember complaining why I need to attend another international student orientation because I’ve attended two in the past already. I remember wearing suits in mid-August to Mars for case competition. I remember sweating a lot during the rope course. Five days orientation seems too long before I attended it, but that was the time we got to know more about our classmates, the people we spent very long time every day with. Through the orientation, I learned about the risk management class and Practicum, I knew the core 2 and 3 students who gave advice later when we felt miserable and I had the chance to learn more about why Baylor puts so much emphasizes on
ethics. Five days are very short compared to the one and half year program, but it’s where we start, to learn, to grow, to get better. It’s a long, long journey, so be prepared.

When asked whether I would help, the answer is absolutely yes. Core one students, are you ready?
