Internship: week two

11 06 2012

It’s the beginning of week two of my internship in Tetra and
I know ahead of time that I will have limited time to conduct research this
week. Why? Not because I’m lazy or slowing things down. Because Tetra makes
safety as first priority so we’ll have fire extinguisher training and annual
safety day this week!

This is clearly showed from day one in the company. Out of
the two days orientation, we spent almost one and half days on safety education
with several videos and discussions. Every time there’s a meeting, it will
start with a safety moment. What’s more, everyday we’ll receive an email
regarding safety. It’s not only the safety of working in the lab, but also
safety of driving, working in the office, at home, even the weather. Houston
could have thunder storm, hurricane and tornado, but Tetra is prepared for any
kind of weather and gave out detailed information on how to handle, where to
assemble or in case we are short of any supplies. With this high level of
priority, I believe everyone will feel safe when working and can focus more to
be very productive.

Other than safety, my research has some breakthrough too. It
began with no idea where to start and then change to make assumptions from the
limited information and go from there. Though right now most of the researches
are based on assumptions, somehow I feel I know more about the market than last
week. Maybe later when I accumulate enough information, there will be a way
that I can support all the assumptions and make some sense from the research.

But anyway, it’s time to kick off week two and I’m excited about
the coming annual safety day!
