July 15 – Outdoor Mass Notification/Indoor Voice Evacuation Test

July 15, 2010

From Risk Management:

Due to technical challenges experienced during the Outdoor Mass Notification System/Indoor Voice Evacuation System test last Tuesday, July 6th, we will be conducting a second test of the system [today], July 15 at 3 p.m. A technician with Cooper Notification will be onsite making required adjustments to the system and will need to test in order to ensure 100% functionality. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that we will limit the number of messages to a minimum in order to confirm 100% functionality.

For the purpose of redundancy we have two separate units on campus with the ability to activate the messages. The units are located at separate locations and both require testing; you may notice a longer duration between messages.

The interior of the following facilities will be included in the testing:

1. All residence halls
2. Baylor Sciences
3. Hankamer School of Business
4. Moody Library
5. Draper/Burleson/Old Main
6. McMullen Faculty Dining
7. East parking Garage
8. Sid Richardson

New(ish) Task Force on Customer Service

March 15, 2010

This is old news to a few of us, but it seems I didn’t actually send out anything to the entire Central Libraries about a task force we formed in early February. The “Client Service Standards and Behavioral Indicators Review Task Force” is charged to:

review and update the “Client Services Standards and Behavioral Indicators” document (from 2003!) , create training appropriate for all library employees (including student workers), and deliver the training. At a minimum the training must include an online or recorded version for future employees.  Training needs to be ready for delivery by 11 May 2010.

Members of the task force are:

  • James Floyd, chair
  • Ethel Walton
  • Robert Lugo
  • Gail Peterson
  • Kay Stewart

Please talk to any task force members if you have suggestions about our customer service program.

Reminder – Moody fire alarm test scheduled for Nov. 23 – 24

November 18, 2009

Central Texas Security and Fire Equipment, Inc. will be onsite to perform the annual fire alarm inspection.  During this time you will see Central Texas Security and Fire staff throughout the facility.  CTSF staff will be testing all fire alarm devices, including speaker/horn strobes.  The building fire alarm system will briefly sound as part of this test; however, an announcement will be made prior to testing.  Evacuation of the building is not necessary at this time unless directed otherwise.  If a meeting is scheduled that the testing may interrupt, you may consider moving it to a different location or rescheduling.
