During Spring Break contractors re-striped the crosswalks on 3rd Street in front of Moody and added new (very tall!) stop signs. Please be careful to observe these changes to the rules of the road as you navigate around Moody!

Spring Break Painting in Moody

March 5, 2013

During Spring Break, Moody first floor (inside glass doors and up to Moody/Jones corridor) will receive a new coat of paint.  All services will run as usual.  We anticipate temporary restrictions to books at times when the painters are working near a range and need to cover shelving with plastic.  Otherwise, you should not notice too much disruption.

Thank you!

Moody 3rd floor to close 7/12, 7/13

July 5, 2012

Attention:

Moody 3rd floor will be closed all day Thursday, July 12th and Friday, July 13th. All of 3rd floor will be inaccessible including Crouch offices, Crouch reserves, stacks, restrooms, etc.

This is due to abatement and construction work for two projects. 1) removal of tile/installation of new tile adjacent to stacks, and 2) start of work on Crouch Fine Arts listening room renovations. We will post appropriate signage and contact faculty who are teaching this summer.

We had hoped to get this scheduled during an interim period so students/faculty would not be impacted, but this is the only time crews could come in.

Please contact Beth Farwell (Beth_Farwell@baylor.edu) if you have any questions, or need help with a patron request.

Work around Jones Library starting Wed 4/11

April 10, 2012

Work will begin Wednesday April 11 to begin installation of an 8” water main around the perimeter of Jones Library as part of the Baylor Energy Plant Expansion Project.  This extension is actually reinstalling what was removed/abandoned when the Poage/Jones Libraries were built.  The new water main will run almost entirely in the grass areas except in 2 locations where it will require some sidewalk removal and where it crosses the Jones main entrance pavers directly behind the concrete bollards.  Due to the impact on the front entrance, the contractor will lay steel plates over the areas where the pavers are pulled until they can be placed again, after the pipe is installed and trench backfilled.  The entrance will not close entirely at any given time.  We will have 6’ tall construction fence around any open trenches and machinery but the front may look a little unsightly to a degree until the groundcover is replaced as well.  There are no water outages anticipated as the taps into the existing water main will be done “live”. Our anticipated duration is 3-4 weeks, weather permitting.

Roof replacement project

November 10, 2011

From Don Ward…

The foyer and concourse will be getting a new roof in December.    Any loose gravel will be swept up and then a new Dura-last roof will be put on over the existing roof.  Very little disruption to the library.    My experiences with the Dura-last roofs have been positive.

Work is scheduled for December 18 – 31.  The company expects the work to be completed in 7 days.
