Former Linebacker Taylor Young to Receive Bobby Jones Award

The Baylor “B” Association is proud to recognize the recipient of the 2018 Bobby Jones Memorial Award presented annually to an outstanding senior player for Leadership, Sportsmanship, and Team Play during practice for and performance in the Bears’ Homecoming football game. This award was established to honor the memory of the late former Baylor quarterback, Bobby Jones, who led the No. 11th-ranked Bears to a 9-2 season record and a 13-7 victory over No. 2-ranked Tennessee in the 1957 Sugar Bowl.

At the Oklahoma State game this Saturday, we will salute 4-year letterwinner and former linebacker, Taylor Young, for his performance and leadership in last year’s 38-36 loss against the #23rd ranked Mountaineers of West Virginia. Young, a native of DeSoto, Texas, led Baylor’s defense to a brilliant fourth quarter stand that resulted in no points scored, only 11 yards of total offense, and an onside kick recovery. During that game, Young tied for sixth place with former Baylor linebacker Bryce Hager on the Bears all-time solo tackle list. Young finished his college career with 324 total tackles, 38.5 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks.

Presenting the Bobby Jones Memorial Award to Taylor Young will be Mark Jones, son of the late Baylor quarterback Bobby Jones.

Please join the Baylor “B” Association and the Jones family in congratulating 2018 Bobby Jones Memorial Award Recipient Taylor Young on-field this Saturday!
