Today in class, the students had a mock trial. The narrator of the Tell Tale Heart was being tried and the students were either on the prosecution- proving he was guilty or on the defense- proving him not guilty due to insanity. This was such a fun activity to do with the class. Some of the students dressed up like lawyers and got extra credit. I moved the desks around so that there were round tables for both the prosecution and defense, a place for the judge, and then I put the rest of the desks in rows for the jury. There was a script that the judge (either a guest or Ms. Bilton) and court bailiff (me) read out loud and the students were in groups of 4 taking turns trying the narrator. The students seemed to really enjoy the mock trial.
