New Media Seminar

Led by Ashley Palmer
Spring 2012: Feb 1 – Apr 25

The Academy for Teaching and Learning is offering a semester-long faculty development seminar opportunity: “New Media as a Platform for Integrative Learning.” This is a new approach to faculty development at Baylor, one that centers on a shared exploration of the interdisciplinary intellectual history of the networked information age we currently inhabit. We’ll be using a marvelously eclectic anthology titled The New Media Reader as the focus of our discussions. Our readings will stretch our minds and, we hope, yield new and invigorating perspectives on everything from the arts to cognitive psychology to public policy-and beyond. Most of all, our readings will return again and again to questions and ideas about teaching and learning. Indeed, many of the architects of our networked information age were obsessed by the subject of education and ideas for educational reform.
