FIG: Perspectives on Women and the Academy

“Perspectives on Women and the Academy” Faculty Interest Group (FIG)

Facilitators: DeAnna Toten Beard (Theatre Arts) and Helen Harris (School of Social Work)

Overview:
This FIG will meet monthly to discuss readings on a variety of topics pertaining to women in academia. Tentative topics include: socializing the next generation of graduate students;
perspectives on teaching and gender; professional development and advancement; and dual-identity: balancing the personal and the professional. Facilitators DeAnna Toten Beard (Theatre Arts) and Helen Harris (School of Social Work) invite faculty across disciplines, schools, and career stages to this forum for learning and dialogue.

NOTE: FIG meetings will include discussion of readings selected by facilitators for each session. Reading selection(s) will be emailed to participants after they have registered for a given meeting.
